We work directly
with your insurance.
You pay your deductible.
D. MacArthur Auto Body bills every major insurance carrier in New York direct — and we're a MetLife Concierge and Hanover Express Claims shop. Which carriers do we bill direct?
Every major insurer operating in New York — plus local and specialty carriers. If you have an active NY policy, we can work with it.
Four steps, and we handle the adjuster.
You call us — or send photos
Before or after you file, it doesn't matter. We give you a free written estimate so you know what the damage actually costs.
We open the claim channel
We contact your adjuster directly, share our documentation, and speak their language on parts, labor, and procedures.
We find the hidden damage
After teardown, we photograph and document damage the first estimate missed, then submit a supplement — usually approved in days.
You pay only your deductible
We bill the carrier direct for the rest. No fronting the full cost, no chasing reimbursement.

We bill your carrier directly and handle the paperwork for you.
It's your car — and your choice of shop.
Insurers often "steer" drivers toward their own network shops. New York Insurance Law §2610 makes clear you don't have to go along with it: you have the right to choose any licensed body shop, and your carrier must honor that choice.
Network shops work to the insurer's cost targets. We work to the manufacturer's repair standard — genuine parts where safety demands them, factory procedures, and a lifetime workmanship warranty. That difference is exactly why the law protects your choice.
Family-operated on Springfield Blvd since 1973 — all 5 boroughs + Nassau.
Insurance questions, answered.
Do I have to use the body shop my insurance recommends?
No. Under New York Insurance Law §2610, you have the right to choose any licensed body shop. Your insurer cannot require you to use a specific shop, no matter what they say on the phone. We work with every major NY carrier.
What does 'direct billing' mean?
We bill your insurance company directly for the covered repair. You pay only your deductible — you don't front the full repair cost and wait for reimbursement.
What is a MetLife Concierge or Hanover Express Claims shop?
These are direct-repair programs. MetLife and Hanover recognize our shop, which means their policyholders get a streamlined claim, faster approvals, and guaranteed workmanship. If you carry either policy, your claim moves faster here.
What if my insurance estimate is too low?
Initial estimates are usually based on visible damage only. Once we tear down the damaged area, hidden damage becomes visible — we document it and submit a supplement to your adjuster with photos and measurements. It's typically approved within days, and you don't pay the difference.
Will I get a rental car?
If your policy includes rental coverage, your carrier arranges the rental directly — most policies cover $30–$50/day for 14–30 days. We coordinate with your carrier and the rental provider so you don't have to manage it.
Does using my insurance raise my rates?
That depends on your carrier, your policy, and fault — not on which shop you choose. For a not-at-fault claim, many drivers see no change. We can't give insurance advice, but we can give you an honest written estimate so you can decide whether to file at all.
